The Oklahoma Business Ethics Foundation is a 501c3 organization supported by OK Ethics members and private donations. The purpose is to support initiatives promoting ethical behavior on various campuses throughout the state. One of the biggest events of the year is the annual Statewide Student Ethics Challenge which involves undergraduate university students who debate a variety of ethical issues.
According to OK Ethics Founder, Shannon Warren, “The purpose of the day-long event is to provide an opportunity for students to crystallize their thinking on dilemmas involving personal integrity.”
Winners are selected by a team of business and community leaders. They receive an opportunity to compete in the Regional Ethics Bowl in San Antonio and, if successful there, will progress to the National Ethics Bowl in Cincinnati.
In 2011-12, the University of Oklahoma won first place in both the Oklahoma and the Regional Ethics Bowl competitions. They went on to be the first Oklahoma team to place near the top of the scale in the national competition. We are very proud of their efforts, as well as other schools that conscientiously strive to promote integrity on their campuses.
