Over 75 students, faculty and staff met in the Oklahoma Business and Industry Hall of Honor in the Meinders School of Business to unveil the new Student Honor Code. Senior Associate Dean Dr. Mahmood Shandiz talked to the crowd about what it means to have an Honor Code and that it was developed by students involved in the Ethics Consortium.  President Lincoln Keck explained the evolution of the code while Vice-President Paul Poputa-Clean discussed the importance of integrity, character and ethics.

OCU has an academic honesty policy.  The business school students took the initiative to emphasize and educate fellow students on  the importance of applying values to school and in their future careers. The posters will be displayed around the building and all students will read and sign the code as they begin their next semester. Dr. Crandall says, “The percentage of students who do not practice academic honesty is small but we want to make it clear to all OCU stakeholders that we will be diligent in enforcing a program with the highest level of ethical standards.  I am very proud to have worked with the students who were the leaders of writing and planning the event”.  Professor Tom Guild played the piano while students and faculty gathered for the announcement.  It was an inspiring gathering.
